New Delhi: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad slammed the Congress party for organising a Bharat Bandh and held it responsible for the death of an ailing two-year-old girl who was not fortunate enough to avail an ambulance on time.


According to reports, in Bihar's Jehanabad an ambulance that was dispatched to take a two-year-old girl to the hospital was prevented from moving towards her house by agitated protesters who were demonstrating as part of Bharat Bandh against rising fuel prices and depreciation of rupee .

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Prasad flayed the Congress saying "your people stopped the ambulance leading to the baby's death. She is India's beti. Will you take responsibility of her death?".

"Their (Congress) people are attempting to burn petrol pumps and attacking trains and buses. Congress is instilling an atmosphere of fear in the country,"he lashed out at the party whose chief Rahul Gandhi is leading the protests.

"Government has no role in fuel price fixation. In spite of facing momentary difficulty, people are not supporting the bandh. This is unnerving the Congress,"he asserted while calling 'Bharat Bandh' a failure.


Meanwhile, contrary to reports, sub divisional Officer Paritosh Kumar, said the two-year-old girl did not due to non-availability of ambulance. (WATCH)
