Two terrorists have been killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla and Rajouri on Saturday, a day after five Indian soldiers died in a similar face-off in Rajouri. The encounters broke out in the early hours of Saturday in the Baramulla and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir. One terrorist, linked with LeT, has been killed by the security forces in Baramulla and another in Rajouri. As per the statement of the Indian Army, another terrorist is likely to be injured in Rajouri.


Indian Army said that arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the area that includes one AK56, four Mags of AK, 56 rounds of AK, a 1x9mm Pistol with Mag, three grenades and one ammunition pouch. According to a police official, a cordon and search operation was launched after the police received information about some suspicious movement and during that firing was done.  













The Kashmir Zone Police said that the killed terrorist in Baramulla has been identified as Abid Wani, a resident of Yarhol Babapora Kulgam, linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT. They added that incriminating materials, including one AK 47 rifle, have also recovered.






"Information was received about some suspicious movement. A cordon and search operation was launched and during that firing was done towards us and in retaliatory firing one terrorist of LeT has been killed. Our forces are alert in view of G20 Summit and we are neutralising the threat & G20 Summit will be organised successfully," SSP Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure said as quoted by ANI.






Another encounter broke out in Kandi forest in Rajouri.  According to ANI, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi is at Ground Zero, to review the operational situation on the ongoing operations at Kandi in Rajouri where contact was re-established with militants. He was briefed on all aspects of the operations by ground commanders.


Meanwhile, defence minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting Jammu on Saturday to review the security situation and Army Chief General Manoj Pande is likely to accompany him during the visit, reported ANI.


ANI reported citing security officials that the 9 Para Special Forces troops were part of the joint operation team of security forces which killed one terrorist and one is likely to be injured in Rajouri.


Earlier on Wednesday, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. According to police officials, an encounter broke out between terrorists and the security forces near the Pichnad Machil area in the Kupwara district on Wednesday morning.
