New Delhi: On the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Union minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju,  on Wednesday flagged off the 2 km Plog run at the Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi. As part of the plog run, Sports Minister Rijiju is encouraging fellow citizens to keep the surroundings clean by collecting trash along the road while jogging.


Union minister for youth affairs and sports Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that the nation needs to pay tributes to the 'Father of the Nation' and they  can achieve the same by ensuring cleanliness around them.


ABP News joined sports minister in the 2-km run while the Minister explained and urged all citizens in the nation to join this movement. The Minister was joined by BJP leader Manoj Tiwari, ace wrestler Bajrang Punia, shooters Abhishek Verma and Sanjiv Rajput.

The initiative as part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan mission has caught the fancy of citizens across the nation as more than 2 core India joined the movement today to keep India plastic free and keep themselves fit.

Mahatma Gandhi's commitment to peace, harmony and brotherhood remained unwavering, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembering the Father of the Nation on his sesquicentennial on Wednesday.

Modi also visited Gandhiji's samadhi Raj Ghat to pay his tributes. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
