The government of India is all set to recruit 10 lakh people in a time span of 1.5 years in various government departments and ministries. According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all the departments and ministries to begin recruiting on a "mission mode"
The direction from the Prime Minister came after a review of the status of human resources in all government departments and ministries, the PMO said, as reported by news agency PTI.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has often been criticised by the opposition on the issue of unemployment. Large number of vacancies in different government sectors has frequently been brought up to hit out at the ruling BJP.
The announcement made by Prime Minister Modi was shared by the PMO on its twitter handle that read, "PM Narendra Modi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years."
The deicion was hailed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah who immediately took to Twitter to thank PM Modi.
"The basis of new India is its youth power. To empower them, PM Modi is working continuously. PM Modi Ji's directive to recruit 10 lakhs in a mission mode in all government departments and ministries in 1.5 years will bring new hope and confidence among the youth. Thank you PM @narendramodi ji for this," wrote Shah on his twitter handle.
Employment generation was a key promise made by the BJP government during the Lok Sabha Elections held in 2019.
