At least 10 people died and 55 people were critically injured after a bus going from Amritsar to Katra fell into a deep gorge. The injured have been shifted to hospital, as reported by the news agency ANI. "10 people died and around 55 are injured. All have been evacuated. Rescue operation is almost complete. SDRF team is also present on the spot. The bus was carrying more passengers than the prescribed limit and will be probed during the probe," SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli said as quoted by ANI. 






On May 21, a 27-year-old woman was killed and 24 people were injured when a Rajasthan-bound bus carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims overturned in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. According to officials, the bus was on its way to Katra from Amritsar when the incident took place near Jhajjar Kotli - about 15km from Katra in Jammu district.


The officials initially stated that seven people were dead, and four others were seriously injured. "7 people are dead, and 4 others are seriously injured. The bus was going from Amritsar to Katra when it fell into a deep gorge near Jhajjar Kotli," Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Avny Lavasa told ANI.

"Those critically injured have been brought to GMC Jammu. 12 others have been admitted at Local Public health Centre," he added. Further details are awaited.
