INDIA alliance on Sunday cancelled its first scheduled rally to be held in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal in October after facing anger from people over Sanatan Dharma remark, said senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Talking to reporters, Chouhan said the “rally in Bhopal has been cancelled as people are angry due to 'Sanatan Dharma' remarks." Taking a swipe at Congress’s Jan Aakrosh Yatra, he also added that those against whom people have angst are taking out 'Aakrosh Yatra', reported news agency PTI.

Meanwhile, Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia alleged the INDIA bloc wants to erase Mahatma Gandhi's Sanatan Dharma and it cancelled the proposed rally in Bhopal after sensing widespread public anger.

He further added that over 140 crore people in the country will end this alliance. Scindia was quoted as saying by PTI: "The opposition alliance wants to destroy Sanatan Dharma, spread corruption across the country, practice dynastic politics and appeasement. But realising widespread public anger against them, this program was cancelled.”

He said the Opposition bloc was determined to erase Mahatma Gandhi's Sanatan Dharma but they will face huge public anger. The Civil Aviation Minister’s comments were made on the sideline of an event in Gwalior, where he was present to attend a programme to mark Vishwakarma Jayanti.

Earlier on Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath had said the proposed rally of INDIA in Bhopal has been cancelled, which was attributed to the "public anger" over remarks made by DMK leaders against Sanatan Dharma, reported PTI.

Recently, DMK leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin and A Raja claimed Sanatan Dharma had sown divisions in society and must be eradicated on the lines of diseases like dengue, malaria and coronavirus. Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh are due in November this year.

Moreover, Scinddia also commented on the INDIA bloc announcing that it would boycott the shows of 14 television anchors on several platforms. He said, "Discriminating against the fourth pillar of democracy is in the DNA of Congress. The Congress has destroyed the Constitution time and again".
