Chennai: When India is facing a stiff challenge and the issues due to the virus are raging, Tamil Nadu set up a new Herbal Steam Centre for the people who tested positive for Covid-19. Earlier, there were community inhalation centres set up in Gujarat. 


For the first time in Tamil Nadu, a Herbal Steam Centre has been inaugurated at the Mannargudi Government Hospital for Covid patients. Indian Red Cross Society and Nessakkaram Welfare Organisations teamed up in association with the management of the district Government General Hospital at Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu to set up a steam centre for Covid patients.

The inaugural ceremony on Sunday was graced by the Chief Physician Vijayakumar. At the inaugural event, steam treatment was given to the Covid patients in the presence of Dr Vijayakumar. This treatment will be appropriated for the Covid patients in the hospital for two hours every evening, said the Chief Physician.


Earlier, the New Indian Express reported that as many as 625 Covid patients were treated in the span of six months from a Siddha Centre in Tiruppattur in Tamil Nadu. Also, some villages in Gujarat followed the steam inhalation technique. Some villages in Gujarat's Mehsana district set up their own community inhalation centres, which attracted as many as 100-120 persons on a daily basis.
