Hyosung Ties Up With Kinetic’s Motoroyale For Sales And Service
Motoroyale to take over reigns after DSK Group files for bankruptcy
Kinetic’s Motoroyale has taken over the Hyosung banner from the DSK group. Thanks to the new pact, select Hyosung dealerships will continue to sell not just Hyosung bikes, superbikes from other brands that currently under the Motoroyale banner as well. Korean motorcycle manufacturer Hyosung’s Indian innings started with the Kinetic Group back in 2003 when the latter launched the GF 125 and GF 170 Laser motorcycles followed by the larger Aquila 250 cruiser and Comet 250 naked. From there on, a few management changes meant Hyosung moved on to Garware Industries for a while before its operations were taken over by the DSK group. Under DSK Motowheels’ banner, they launched the GT 250R, Aquila 250, Aquila 650, ST7 and GT 650R. Later, the DSK Group also tied up with Benelli to sell and service the Italian bikes here. However, DSK Group was forced to file for bankruptcy due to the financial losses suffered by its real estate arm in 2017. While Benelli’s Indian operations were taken over by Hyderabad-based Mahavir Group, Hyosung has moved back in with Kinetic’s Motoroyale. Motoroyale is Kinetic’s multi-brand superbike umbrella under which they sell and provide after-sales service for motorcycles from brands such as MV Agusta and Norton and will soon be joined by Italian bike manufacturer SWM.
The new merger spells good news for the 7,000-odd Hyosung customers in India as they can continue to get their bikes serviced at company-authorised service stations. Hyosung will continue to provide after sales support via Kinetic’s Motoroyale dealerships. What about existing Hyosung dealerships? Kinetic is in the process of converting most of these dealerships into Motoroyale outlets and convert them into multi-brand showrooms. They are also in the process of setting up more dealerships. So what can we expect from Hyosung in the near future? The South Korean bike manufacturer had shown three bikes and one concept at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show - GT300R, Aquila GV300 and GT650R with the GD 450. With the new merger, Hyosung could consider launching them in India soon. Motoroyale is keen on setting up more dealerships and service points, so servicing these bikes won’t be much of a hassle.
