New Delhi: Honda has now confirmed the launch of the Honda Accord Hybrid next month, in October 2016, in India, which will coincide with the festive season. The Japanese car maker will announce the launch date in a few days from now.

The next-generation Accord was even showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo back in February, which will be the ninth generation model. It will also be launched as a hybrid version as well, powered by a 2.0-litre iVTEC engine, which will work along with twin electric motors backed up by a 1.3 kW lithium-ion battery. Power will be transferred to the wheels via a E-CVT gearbox.

The combined power output will be 196 bhp of which the petrol motor will make about 141 bhp of power. The combined torque output will be the tune of 300 Nm. With both the mechanical engine and the electric motor, the mileage will be a good 23 kmpl. Besides this hybrid version, a petrol version of the Accord will also be launched by the Honda.

The Honda Accord sports futuristic design cues much different from the current generation models. The bumpers, the foglamp provisions, LED DRLs along with the front-grille and headlights render futuristic design traits to the model. Expect the interiors to sport a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, besides a wood-themed interior in dual-tones. Heated seats will also be another comfort-enhancing feature.

The upcoming ninth generation Honda Accord will likely do well with its futuristic, glance-stealing looks, though the previous versions did not do well in India and hence were phased out. In its expected Rs. 28-32 lakh price range, it will be competing with the Toyota Camry Hybrid to gain the market share in the space.
