Mewat (Haryana): A gym trainer identified as Asif Khan was allegedly attacked and beaten to death by a group of unidentified armed men. The incident happened on Sunday near a plywood factory in Atta village of Nuh area in Mewat, Haryana.


According to a report by The Tribune, 30-year-old Khan and his two cousins were allegedly followed by at least 15 men on motorcycles. While his cousins managed to escape, Khan was forcefully taken to the outskirts of Sohna and abused by the miscreants.

Reports have quoted Khan's family claiming that he was travelling to get medicines when he was attacked by a group of men from a different community. 


Meanwhile, the Haryana police have filed an FIR against the perpetuators under IPC 302.  Police have ruled out religious angle in the matter saying that the two groups have fought in the past and have filed police complaints against each other.


As reported by NDTV, Nuh’s Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh said the groups have often indulged in tiff which was often resolved by senior members of the village. An SIT has been constituted to probe the case.


Tension ensued in the area following the incident while police claiming some persons belonging to the crime have been arrested.


10 persons have also reportedly been held for pelting stones at cops during Asif Khan's funeral.
