Former Union minister Daggubati Purandeswari launched a scathing attack against the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government in Andhra Pradesh shortly after assuming the chair as the BJP's state unit president. Purandeswari slammed the YSRCP government over the delay in the construction of the Polavaram project and asked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to hand over the Polavaram project construction work to the Centre if it cannot handle it properly. She demanded that the Jagan government provide an explanation regarding the allocation of funds received from the Centre under various schemes.

Purandeswari said that a false campaign against the BJP is being run in the state to malign the party's image. She further said that the party is dedicated to helping Andhra Pradesh regardless of the number of votes received. She emphasised that the BJP provides financial assistance to farmers through schemes such as the Kisan Samman Nidhi, where farmers receive Rs 6,000.

Additionally, Purandeswari mentioned that the central government had provided Rs. 20,000 crore to the state for housing programmes over the past nine years. However, she said that despite the funding, only a small percentage of the houses had been constructed, indicating a lack of progress in housing development.

She accused the YSRCP government of not effectively utilising the developmental projects provided by the central government, specifically mentioning the incomplete land acquisition for industrial corridors. She claimed that this failure has hindered the state's progress. Furthermore, Purandeswari alleged that the YSRCP had plundered the state's natural resources.
