WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a multi-platform system that would allow users to access their chats and profiles on more than one device with the same account.
Currently, WhatsApp users can access the application on a computer system through its WhatsApp Web app for PC or web.whatsapp.com on a browser but their phones need to be on and connected to the internet. In order to use WhatsApp on computer systems, it is mandatory for the users to install the application on their phones and must have an active internet connection.
With this new feature, users will be able to log-in to WhatsApp Web and could send and receive messages on PCs without needing their phones.
The new feature might come as a big relief for users as it can help them stay in touch with the people on their contact list even when they on the move or if their phone is running out battery. However, there is no official confirmation about the same from WhatsApp and even there is no clarity as to by when this feature will be rolled out.
The multi-platform system would also work in synchronisation with WhatsApp's UWP, which is also in the works, to offer the standard chat interface on different devices with the same account. The instant messaging app, back in 2015, released the a web version (WhatsApp Web) which is highly popular among office goers as they have to use computer systems for most of their day. The feature mirrors the conversation from the mobile app to PCs.
WhatsApp Web allows users to save images, documents and sheets on computer as one can just download files on the chat with one click. Among other updates related to Whatsapp is that the chat app is also working to add a feature called ‘Quick Edit Media Shortcut’, which will help users edit a sent or received image directly within the WhatsApp media gallery.
