NEW DELHI: WhatsApp is reportedly facing problems with a newly found bug which is triggered by messages.
As per claims on Reddit, a WhatsApp message containing a small black dot emoji can be used to crash your app or smartphone.
The glitch, which is now being called as a “text bomb” by many, overwhelms the app when clicked.
Many on YouTube claim that as soon as you click, WhatsApp will become unresponsive, and you’ll have to manually quit the app.
The "message bomb" which is causing the messaging platform to crash is more "nefarious, looks too innocent" and does not come with a warning. The message includes special characters that do not display visibly but are used to change text behaviour.
The bug is a text rendering bug and the characters it's using is Unicode RTL and LTR marks.
Facebook-owned WhatsApp has not commented on the potentially disruptive bug so far.
