Disney Hotstar Subscription plans: The much anticipated Disney+ has finally launched in India. The streaming service is available in India via Hotstar and through a rebranded Disney+Hotstar app. The launch was a bit late due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and across the globe. The company hosted a virtual Red Carpet event that kicked off the launch with The Lion King and The Mandalorian premieres. The new update for the app, with all the Disney+ content, has gone live across platforms including Android, iOS, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and Android TV. Disney Plus Hotstar is coming with over 7,000 episodes of popular and classic TV shows along with 500 films from the house of Disney, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Hotstar's catalog previously consisted of over 4,000 titles in addition to exclusive sports streaming. With these latest additions, it's only going to pose a threat to key players such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video along with Indian OTT services like ALTBalaji, Zee5, among others. Disney+ Hotstar will stream content in eight Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, and others. Disney+ Hotstar will be offered with two subscription plans - VIP and Premium.

Disney Plus Hotstar VIP- Rs 399/year

At a subscription cost of Rs 399 for a year, you will be able to watch the content of Marvel Cinematic Universe and the best of superheroes movies like The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor Ragnarok. In addition to that, movies including The Lion King, Frozen II, Aladdin, and Toy Story 4 will be available. Bollywood movies like Panga, Tanhaji, and cartoons Mickey Mouse, Doraemon and others will be available too. Hotstar Originals and live sports matches are also available on this list. Earlier this plan was priced at Rs 365.

Disney Plus Hotstar Premium- Rs 1,499/year

In this plan, you will be able to get all the benefits of the VIP plan but in addition to that, you will also be able to watch English language content and 29 acclaimed Disney+ originals that include The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and more. You will also have access to the latest American shows from HBO, Fox, and Showtime. Hotstar Premium was earlier priced at Rs 999. All existing subscribers will be automatically upgraded to their respective new subscription plan and will be charged the new rates upon renewal.
