Both the EcoSport S and the Signature edition will come exclusively with the 1.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine

Ford India is all set to launch two new editions of its highest selling model, the EcoSport. Christened the EcoSport S and the Signature, both the versions will be launched in May 2018. Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine is making a comeback with these upcoming versions of the EcoSport facelift.

Ford EcoSport Signature Edition: Highlights

  • Will only be powered by the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine (125PS/170Nm) like the S. This time around, the EcoBoost will be mated to a new 6-speed manual unlike the pre-facelift model that had a 5-speed box

  • While the S is expected to be the new range-topping model in the EcoSport’s lineup, the Signature is most likely to be based on the second-last Titanium variant. Both the versions, however, will get a sunroof

  • The equipment list will be slightly different as the S is expected to get bi-xenon headlamps and 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. The Signature, on the other hand, will get the 9-inch infotainment that offers built-in navigation, but it misses out on CarPlay and Android Auto

  • The S will also get a more premium looking instrument cluster with a bigger colour MID screen and chrome rings for the dials. The Signature will offer the regular one that you see on the existing variants right now

  • The S will get darker aesthetic treatment such as smoked headlamps, gunmetal finish alloys and grille along with contrasting black roof, while the Signature edition will be largely similar to the regular model featuring chrome bits. However, both the versions will feature colour-coded cabin inserts: Signature will get blue and the S will feature orange appliques

  • Like the S, the Signature too will offer partial leather and fabric upholstery

  • Since the Signature edition is expected to be based on the Titanium variant, it should get dual front airbags along with ABS and EBD. The EcoSport S, on the other hand, is likely to get additional side and curtain airbags along with ESP (electronic stability program), TC (traction control) and HLA (hill launch assist). Some of the features available in the top Titanium+ variant include cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers that will be carried forward in the S

  • The EcoSport S is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 11 lakh, while the Signature is likely to be more accessible at around Rs 10 lakh. The EcoSport’s top Titanium+ variant with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, on which the EcoSport S is expected to be based, costs Rs 10.52 lakh. The Titanium variant of the petrol-manual EcoSport, on which the Signature edition would be based, is priced at Rs 9.55 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi)
