New Delhi: A student of South Kashmir's Anantnag district died in Bangladesh on Wednesday morning in Sirajganj. She was pursuing MBBS at Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital, Bangladesh. Meanwhile, several Kashmiri politicians including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appealed to the External Affairs Ministry to help repatriate the body of Khushboo Manzoor. "The family is desperate to repatriate the mortal remains of Khusboo so she can be buried by the family & loved ones at home rather than far away surrounded by strangers. Please help," write Omar on his Twitter.






News agency KNO quoted a family member as saying that Khushboo Manzoor, daughter of Manzoor Ahmed of Katu village in Bijbehara, fell from her college hostel building on Tuesday. The family member said that he died in the hospital today. The family appealed to the authorities concerned to help in bringing his body back for the last rites.


Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Medical Student’s Association in its tweet said, “In our hearing During a football match between Kashmiri students studying in Bangladesh and the local Bangladeshi students, a small verbal exchange turned violent. In response, the college administration punished only an Indian student barring him from appearing in examinations for 6 months. The victim tried to commit suicide but was fortunately saved by his friends. We are requesting our respected @ihcdhaka and concern International Medical college to solve this matter on humanitarian ground,”(sic).






The relatives said that they got information from the college management from Bangladesh that their daughter had fallen down from the hostel building. She was immediately taken to the hospital where, she died during treatment in the ICU. The family has no information about how their daughter fell from the hostel building.


A relative of Khushboo said that we request the government through the Ministry of External Affairs to bring Khushboo's body back to Anantnag so that it can be handed over to it. He said that we have been asked by Bangladesh authorities to follow certain procedures including sending an affidavit which we have done.
