New Delhi: With the rise in Covid-19 cases, there are rumours circulating through social media of another lockdown to add to the rumours a fake video on Facebook has been going viral of PM Modi calling for another lockdown.
An 11-minute long viral video that shows stock images of PM Modi with "Breaking News" graphics, the video claims that the Prime Minister has announced a lockdown in five states. Among several other things, the Hindi voiceover in the clip claims that some states, including Delhi, are going to reintroduce lockdown. The Hindi caption of the Facebook post translates to, "Permission granted to impose lockdown in five states, the Prime Minister has announced".

The viral post garnered over 1.57 lakh likes, over 8,000 shares, and more than 4.5 million views till the time of filing this story.
While there are some states which have imposed restrictions and curfews, there has been no official announcement or mention of a lockdown. PM Modi on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with chief ministers of eight states and reviewed the Covid-19 situation. He also asked the states to prepare for vaccine distribution.
"Our priority is to make the vaccine available for all. States should put in necessary mechanisms, including cold storage facilities," the PM said, as reported by news outlets. There are over 91 lakh cases is in India and over 1.3 lakh deaths have been recorded.
On Wednesday, India's total cases rose to 92,22,217 with 44,376 fresh Covid-19 infections. Meanwhile, 481 people died in last one day taking the toll to 1,34,699. Currently there are as 4,44,746 active cases in the country.
