New Delhi: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Chirag Paswan said Sunday that he was saddened by the way he and his family were recently evicted from the bungalow at 12, Janpath, New Delhi, allotted to his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan. The previous day, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the eviction of Chirag Paswan from the bungalow, news agency ANI reported.
Alleging humiliation, Chirag Paswan said that his family respects the law, and was ready to vacate the house. "I am saddened by the way the house was vacated. I never said that I want 12, Janpath forever. My family respects the law. We were ready to vacate the house but why were we humiliated like this?... People of Bihar are seeing all these things," ANI quoted the LJP MP as saying.
Last year, the Directorate of Estates (DoE) had issued an eviction order, and multiple reminders were sent, officials said. Chirag Paswan vacated the bungalow at 12, Janpath, months after the eviction notice.
Yadav said that the BJP set fire to the bungalow of 'Hanuman', and that this was the consequence of supporting the BJP, ANI reported.
"Ram Vilas Paswan was standing with the BJP till the last. BJP set the Bungalow of 'Hanuman' on fire. This is the consequence of supporting the BJP. They had already broken the party and separated the leaders," an ANI report quoted Yadav as saying.
Yadav was asked about the Uttar Pradesh model of the BJP. He said that in Bihar, people have seen their "circus model". He said that the UP model is yet to be understood. "If running a bulldozer is the UP model, then why do not they run a bulldozer on unemployment? Yogi ji should also run bulldozers in unemployment, crime, and corruption," Yadav further said.
On Thursday, March 31, the Delhi High Court dismissed a play against the order of eviction of the bungalow allocated to Chirag's late father. After Ram Vilas Paswan's death, Chirag had been living in the bungalow.
A purported video of the eviction is being widely shared on social media. In the video, all the belongings of Ram Vilas Paswan are seen lying on the floor, including his photographs. ABP News cannot confirm the authenticity of the video.
Ram Vilas Paswan, who served as a union minister both in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) governments, had stayed in the bungalow for years. He used the bungalow for conducting regular press conferences.
Ram Vilas Paswan died in October 2020. After this, the bungalow was allocated to Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in August 2021.
Officials said that Chirag Paswan had already been allotted a flat reserved for the MPs.
