The pictures which have emerged depict the child sitting on the dead body after which the toddler was taken by the Army and police personnel. The child was accompanied by them after the traumatic attack.
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was martyred and a civilian killed in a militant attack in Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday morning. Three paramilitary personnel were injured in the clash.
According to the J&K Police, it rescued a three year-old boy from being hit by bullets during the terrorist attack. As per the initial information the CRPF party was fired by terrorists drawing an instant retaliation.
The terrorists had attacked CRPF’s road opening party when they were placing a check post along with personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police on the Sopore by-pass highway in Model Town of Sopore.
The militants opened fire on a naka party of security forces in Sopore, resulting in injuries to three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and a civilian, the officials said.
The area has been sealed and a search operation has been launched. Officials of the Indian Army and police have also reached the spot. Further details are awaited.
In Sopore, it is the second attack on CRPF within three months. On April 18, terrorists fired at a CRPF party killing three troopers.
Meanwhile, a separate encounter started at Tral in South Kashmir on Tuesday night after inputs about the presence of a group of three terrorists. The fire fight stopped in the night itself but the search operation was still going on.
