Delhi Night Curfew: Who Is Exempted & Who Needs E-Pass? All FAQs Answered

Delhi government has decided to impose night curfew in the national capital starting today till April 30. Essential services and emergency movement of vehicles will be allowed in the capital. Check the categories of individuals will be exempted from the restrictions.

Witnessing continuous spike in the number of Coronavirus cases, the Delhi government has decided to impose night curfew in the national capital starting today till April 30. As per the announcement, residents will not be allowed to come out of their house from 10 pm to 5 am.

While essential services and emergency movement of vehicles will be allowed in the capital, people who are not a part of essential services have been advised to stay at home during the night curfew.

The official notice issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority stated that "the situation of COVID-19 in NCT has been reviewed and it has been observed that there has been a sudden increase in recent past along with high positivity rate and therefore, it is felt that night curfew needs to be imposed in the territory of NCT of Delhi."

Following Categories of individuals will be exempted from the restrictions:

• Health, Disaster Control, Police, Civil Defense, Fire Service, District Administration, Account, Electricity Department, Water and Sanitation and Government officials connected with Air Rail and Bus, Delhi Government officials and all employees of Autonomous Bodies and Corporation will be exempted.


• Private doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to remain exempt from night curfew if ID card is produced.


• Passengers going to airports, railway stations and bus stations will be exempted if a valid ticket is produced.


• Pregnant women and patients going for treatment exempted. No e-pass needed. 


• Buses, metro, autos, taxis and other modes of public transport will be allowed to ferry only those people who are exempt from night curfew.


• Depts providing essential services to remain exempt.


• People associated with diplomat offices of other countries will get exemption from these restrictions on showing valid i-card


• There will be no restriction on the movement of essential and non-essential goods coming from other states. No e-pass required for these.


• Persons who are going for COVID-19 vaccinations shall be exempted after providing e-pass. 


• Movement of persons related to commercial and private establishments providing essential services/ Commodities such as - private security services, petrol pumps, print and electronic media, banks and ATMS, Internet and cable services, Cold storage and warehousing services, Power generation, transmission and distribution unit. It is to be noted that the movement of the individuals shall be allowed only with the possession of hard/soft copy of e-pass

How to get e-pass? 

E-pass in Delhi can be obtained by visiting the website of Delhi Delhi government’s official e-pass website – https://epass.jantasamvad.org/epass/init/ . Upon visiting the site, tou will be required to enter all your details in the given form. Next, you will receive a QR enabled exemption on the given mobile number or email-ID. You are required to download the e-pass and show when asked by police in the city during night curfew.  

The concerned District magistrate shall be responsible for issuance of e-passes for above activities and for overall implementation of these measures. Moreover, Buses, metro, autos, taxis and other modes of public transport will be allowed to ferry only those people who are exempt from night curfew.
