Delhi Air Pollution: Air Quality In 'Very Poor' Category For 8th Day In A Row, AQI Rises To 347

Delhi Pollution: Delhi's air was recorded in the 'extremely bad' category for the 8th consecutive day. The AQI in the city has reached 347.

Delhi Air Pollution: There seems no relief from pollution in the national capital as of now. Air quality in New Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category on Sunday as well. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), an air quality monitor of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the level of air pollution in Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category on Sunday as well. The city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was marked at 347.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, earlier on Saturday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR reached 355. On Friday this figure was 370.  At the same time, air quality in neighbouring districts of Ghaziabad (346), Gurgaon (348) and Noida (357), Greater Noida (320) and Faridabad (347) also fell in the 'very poor' category.

AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', AQI between 51 and 100 is considered 'satisfactory', 'medium' between 101 and 200, 'bad' between 201 and 300, 'extremely bad' between 301 and 400 and AQI between 401 and 500  is categorized as 'serious'.

Construction works stopped

Emergency measures have been announced to reduce pollution in the national capital. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai had said on Wednesday that there will be 100 percent work from home for government departments till November 21. At the same time, construction and demolition work have also been put on hold in the capital. Schools, colleges and other educational institutions have also been closed till further orders.
