Chandigarh: A bizarre case has come to light where some unknown persons impersonated political strategist Prashant Kishor and incited some political leaders against Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Acknowledging the matter, the Punjab Police registered a criminal case against the unidentified miscreants.
As reported in media reports, a Punjab Police spokesperson informed that for the past five-seven days, the said unknown persons had been making phone calls to political leaders and public representatives disguised as Prashant Kishor and encouraging the politicians to make public statements against the Punjab Chief Minister. The unknown callers allegedly incited the leaders to criticise Amarinder Singh's leadership.

Citing confidential sources, the said spokesperson further said that the callers, speaking as Prashant Kishor, also assured the political leaders that he would take up case with the Congress High Command in Delhi, if they act on his advice.
The identities of the said callers is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the Punjab police has reportedly registered a criminal case under Sections 416, 419, 420, 109, 120-B of the IPC and section 66-D of the IT Act 2000 at PS Division no. 6, Commissionerate of Police, Ludhiana.
Earlier this year, Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh had appointed poll strategist Prashant Kishor as his principal advisor. The development was assumed to be significant as assembly polls are due early next year.

In the past, Kishor has been the brain behind Punjab Congress programmes like “Coffee with Captain” and “Punjab Da Captain” to drum up support for the party during the last assembly polls.
