Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, June 1, Tuesday: Witnessing slight improvement in the Covid situation, several states have started the unlock process. The Rajasthan government has also eased certain restrictions from June 2. According to fresh guidelines, exemption for various activities will be given only in areas where the positivity rate is less than 10 percent or the use of oxygen, ICU, and ventilator beds is less than 60 percent. Meanwhile, the Union health ministry claimed that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 21.58 crore.

Our focus on childhood COVID disease is gaining our attention. The pediatric population is generally asymptomatic. They often get infections but their symptoms are minimal or nill. The infection has not taken serious shape in children: Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog
But the virus may change its behaviour in the pediatric population. The impact of COVID19 may increase in children. The data has shown that a low number of children are being admitted to hospitals. We're pushing preparedness.

Eli Lilly and Company India on Tuesday said it has received permission for emergency use of its antibody drugs combination used for treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19, in the country.
The company has received permission for restricted emergency use of its monoclonal antibody drugs, bamlanivimab 700 mg and etesevimab 1400 mg, used together for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate COVID-19, Eli Lilly said in a statement. Read more

Sri Lanka on Tuesday reopened its international airport here for passengers in the midst of the current COVID-19 lockdown with the first flight with 53 passengers landing from Qatar. The internal travel restrictions, which allow only essential services, have been in effect from mid-May and due to be lifted on June 7. Nitin Gadkari said that every individual and the society have a responsibility towards the children who became orphan during the coronavirus pandemic. He was speaking at the inauguration of a COVID-19 care centre in Vatsalya village in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh. "The service to dalit, the exploited, orphan, physically challenged and medically ill, in fact, is service to God," the minister said at the virtual inauguration event. The Covid care centre in Vatsalya village is a step in that direction, Gadkari said.
Almost all states and Union Territories, including Bihar, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh have extended the lockdown like restrictions in order to contain the spread of deadly Coronavirus.
Andhra Pradesh has also decided to continue with curfew till June 10, while the complete shutdown in Lakshadweep will remain till June 7.
The Chhattisgarh government said that the lockdown, which was scheduled to end on Monday, will continue with some relaxation in restrictions in those districts where the COVID-19 case positivity rate is less than five percent.
The Rajasthan government also issued guidelines on Monday to start the "unlock" process by easing certain restrictions from June 2.

Meanwhile, the Union health ministry claimed that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 21.58 crore. It said that 12,23,596 people in the age group of 18-44 years received their first dose and 13,402 their second dose of Covid vaccine on Monday.
