Covid Highlights, 3rd May, Monday, 2021:Leaders of 13 opposition parties in a joint statement asked the Central government to launch a free mass vaccination drive across the country in view of the unprecedented surge in #COVID19 cases.

In the wake of rise in Covid-19 cases in the state, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat made a phone call to Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani & requested to provide oxygen cylinders. Gujarat CM promised full support to the state: Uttarakhand CM's Office.
In view of the increasing Covid-19 cases, all government and private universities to remain closed till further orders. Online classes to continue: MM Semwal, Joint Secretary, Higher Education said.

For vaccination, Sisodia said, "Vaccination has started at 76 schools of Delhi Govt today. With this, vaccination has begun at 301 centres for 18-45 age group. Our target is to make 10 centres at a school. We'll continue to expand number of centers as we receive more vaccines."
Amid a shortage of beds in the country with a huge surge in daily infections, the Ministry of Railways says it has deployed nearly 4000 isolation coaches with almost 64,000 beds across the country.
As Delhi continues to witness a heavy shortage of oxygen and medicines, Lt Governor Anil Baijal directed top officers of the Delhi government to prepare a detailed action plan to address the shortage of the life-saving gas. In a joint statement, they also called upon the Centre to ensure uninterrupted oxygen supply to all hospitals and health centres as they manage the staggering patient loads in view of the rising cases.
The signatories include Congress president Sonia Gandhi, JDS leader and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.
Deficit supply of oxygen to Delhi - where 12 people died Saturday and 25 last week, because of a shortfall triggered by the second wave of coronavirus cases - must be rectified on or before midnight of May 3, the Supreme Court has told the centre.
The top court also directed the centre to work with state governments to create a buffer stock of oxygen to be used for emergency purposes, and decentralise locations of these reserves.
