New Delhi: Congress leader Sanjiv Tripathi was shot dead in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur by unidentified assailants, sources close to ABP News said. Tripathi was driving his car at the time of incident when assailants stopped the car and shot at him from point blank range during wide daylight. The Congress leader died on the spot.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, senior officials including Bilaspur Senior Superintendent of Police, Parul Mathur also reached the spot.
As per the sources, the incident took place under the limits of Sakri Police station when Tripathi was driving his Fortuner on the Sakri bypass road. Meanwhile, two to three masked people reached there and stopped his car.
As and when the car stopped, the assailants shot Tripathi at point blank range who was at the driver’s seat. Tripathi, who was behind the wheels, died after assailants shot him in the head.
The police have now launched an investigation into the matter and are examining CCTV footage installed at the scene of the incident as well as questioning the people around.
