In a bid to reduce the COVID-19 cases in the state, the Bihar government has decided to impose complete lockdown across state till May 15. Taking to his official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in wrote, "After discussion with the associate ministers and officials yesterday, it was decided to impose lockdown in Bihartill May 15."
As per the fresh guidelines, all schools, colleges, shopping malls, local markets, restaurants and bars, gyms, hair salons, spas and swimming pools will remain closed during this period.

However, all health services, including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, vaccination centres chemists, pharmacies, all kinds of medicine shops and medical equipment shops will remain functional.

The strict Covid measures have come at the time when Bihar continues to record spike in daily number of Coronavirus cases. As per the latest health bulletin, the state reported 11,407 fresh COVID-19 cases and 82 deaths in the past 24 hours. With this, the state's overall case load has been pushed to over 5.09 lakh with more than 2,800 fatalities so far.
