Due to the influence of the interaction between Western Disturbance and lower-level easterlies from the Bay of Bengal, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall has been predicted for over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, and northwest Madhya Pradesh. Although there will no significant change in the maximum temperature, there may be a rise in the minimum temperature by three to five degrees Celsius.

The IMD has said that the peak intensity of rain will be on January 4 and 5, there is a possibility of heavy rain/snow over Jammu and Kashmir. Hailstorm at isolated places is also likely over western Himalayan Region during this time. Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Punjab on 4 January 2021.
