West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Abhishek Banerjee's residence on Tuesday morning. Her visit to the Trinamool Congress MP and her nephew came minutes before the arrival of the CBI team which is to grill Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira Naroola in connection with its ongoing probe into the coal scam case.

According to the sources, the TMC supremo stayed at Abhishek Banerjee’s residence only for 10 minutes and took his daughter with her on return.

On Monday, the wife of the TMC leader wrote to the CBI saying that she was "unaware of the reason for questioning". Rujira further said that the CBI team may visit her between 11 AM and 3 PM on 23 February 2021.

A CBI source said that some suspicious bank transactions related to the coal scam are related to Abhishek's wife Rujira. That is why the CBI team wants to question Abhishek's wife Rujira.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee has alleged that he is being targetted by the saffron party ahead of the state elections.
