Delhi: Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA) today kickstarted its programme with Schools in Delhi to create awareness about plastic waste among kids and how the threat can be mitigated through positive engagement with the Cement Industry.
As part of Swachhata hi Seva mission, an initiative of the Government of India, which focusses on plastic waste management, large scale awareness is being undertaken in the first phase by CMA and its Member Companies. The first awareness initiative was undertaken at St. Thomas School today in New Delhi, which included a session on story telling on how unreserved plastic usage has become a demon and is the modern day Ravana. The presentation shows how technology usage in Cement kilns can alleviate the Ravana. The Ravana falling in the kiln depicts the end of evil plastic and its disposal by the Cement Industry, which is well known as the National Scavengers.
There was enthusiastic and energetic participation from the students.
In her remarks, Ms Aparna Dutt Sharma, Secretary General, CMA stated, “CMA and our Member Companies are partnering with the Swachhata hi Seva initiative of the Government of India. Our Member Companies are undertaking awareness campaigns against plastic in their plant premises and surrounding areas, including schools. CMA is also conducting awareness campaign across the schools in Delhi and kickstarted the first session today at St Thomas. The response from the students has been very enthusiastic and energetic. Much in the manner that students have been promoting a green Diwali, we are certain of the big role they can play when it comes to plastic.”
