New Delhi: An order from the office of the district administration at Ambikapur in Sarguja district, to remove an employment office, has added to the woes of the people who had been demanding the closure of a country bar for several years.

The district collector has issued an order to remove an employment office, situated right next to the country bar. As a matter of fact, the local administration has also approved this order.

According to Sarguja District Dollector Sanjeev Kumar Jha, "An application has been received from the Municipal Corporation area that the employment office operating in Gangapur is a little far from the city, which is causing inconvenience to the locals. People want this employment office to be present in the district collectorate building, which is in the main city area. This is the reason why the decision of closing this office was taken."

In the past, Gangapur locals had also staged a protest over the removal of liquor shops.

Gangapur has a government liquor shop located just a few metres from the local bus stand. In a bid to remove liquor shops from the National Highway and residential areas, the district administration had opened a country bar in Gangapur at the place where the employment exchange was operational.

Local women as well as some women-centric organisations began to stage protest over the operation of the country bar ever since it was set up in the location. This movement was going on strong till a few months back until the police force began removing illegal snack centres operating near the liquor shop. The police was also questioned for their action after this drive.
