New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs extended the Armed Forces(Special Powers) Act in three districts of Arunachal Pradesh and nine districts of Nagaland starting Saturday (October 1), for a period of six months.


"Armed Forces(Special Powers) Act, 1958 has been extended for 6 months in Tirap, Changlang and Longding dist in Arunachal Pradesh and areas falling within the jurisdiction of Namsai and Mahadevpur PS in Namsai dist of AP as they are declared as ‘disturbed area'," the MHA notification read, as reported by ANI.






The Act has also been extended in nine districts and 16 police stations in four districts of Nagaland for a period of six months with effect from today unless withdrawn earlier. This decision comes as they are declared as ‘disturbed area’.
