The raids are being conducted in connection with the Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar and his brother DK Suresh in alleged a corruption case. DK Suresh is the MP from Bengaluru Rural.

As per the news agency ANI report, 15 locations are being raided by the agency officials.
So far, Rs 50 lakh has been recovered from premises of Shivakumar, his family members and associates during the searches in the corruption case, the officials said.

The CBI has registered a case against the then Karnataka minister and others, on allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets. Searches are being conducted on Monday at 14 locations - including 9 in Karnataka, 4 in Delhi, one in Mumbai.  It is reported that the raids started at 6am at their residence located in Doddallahalli village in Kanankapura constituency, which is represented by Shivakumar in the state assembly.

Meanwhile former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah took to social media expressing anguish over the raids and blaming BJP for being vindictive, "@BJP4India has always tried to indulge in vindictive politics & mislead public attention. The latest CBI raid on @KPCCPresident @DKShivakuma 's house is another attempt to derail our preparation for bypolls. I strongly condemn this".

The alleged corruption case has been registered by the central agency based on the inputs shared by the Enforcement Directorate over a money laundering probe linked to the tax evasion proceedings by the Income Tax Department.

The BJP described as "ridiculous and meaningless" protests by the Congress. Karnataka BJP spokesperson, Captain Ganesh Karnik said CBI, ED & IT are institutions with functional autonomy to investigate and bring to justice financial & criminal fraudsters. "They are always on their job. The present raid is in continuation of investigations started by ED in 2017," he said.
