Congress To Issue Notification For Party President Polls


The notification for the election of the Congress President's post will be issued on Thursday and with this the process of choosing the person who will hold the highest office of the country's oldest political party will formally begin, as reported by PTI.


This notification will be issued by the Central Election Authority headed by senior party leader Madhusudan Mistry.


As per the announced schedule for the election of Congress President, the notification will be issued on September 22 and the process of filing nominations will go on from September 24 to 30. 


The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 8. In case of more than one candidate, voting will be held on October 17 and results will be declared on October 19.


Two Diving Support Vessels To Be Launched In Vizag: Navy 


Two Diving Support Vessels (DSVs) being built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam for the Indian Navy are going to be launched today. Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff will be the Chief Guest at the launching ceremony, as reported by PTI.


Diving Support Vessels (DSVs) are the first of its kind indigenously designed and built at HSL for the Indian Navy. These ships will be deployed for deep sea diving operations.


The vessels are 118.4-m-long, 22.8 m at the broadest point and will have a displacement of 9,350 tonnes, the Navy said in a statement.


"These ships would be deployed for deep sea diving operations. Additionally, with Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) embarked, the DSVs are designed to undertake submarine rescue operations, in case requirement exists. Furthermore, these ships will be capable of sustained patrolling, conducting search and rescue operations and carrying out helicopter operations at high seas.


"With approximately 80 per cent indigenous content, the DSV project has generated considerable local employment opportunities and has also promoted indigenisation which in turn will aid in boosting India's economy," it said.
