Hours After Detention, Sidhu Allowed To Proceed Towards Lakhimpur Kheri

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu who was detained earlier today in Saharanpur allowed to proceed towards violence-hit Lakhimpur Kheri, news agency ANI reported.


Permission has been given to 5 people, including some ministers and MLAs to go in four different vehicles, Preetinder Singh, DIG, Saharanpur Range said.

The World Health Organization on Wednesday endorsed the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine, the first against the mosquito-borne disease that kills more than 400,000 people a year, mostly African children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rishikesh today, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Breaking News LIVE, October 7, 2021: Hello and welcome to ABP News LIVE Breaking News Blog! Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Uttarakhand on October 7, that is, today. During his visit, the prime minister will inaugurate an oxygen plant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, news agency ANI reported.


 PM Modi will be completing 20 years of his service on a constitutional post since he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister in the year 2001.


"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate an oxygen plant at AIIMS, Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will also assist him," sources told ANI.


Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state a "good sign" and said he was eagerly waiting for this moment.


Speaking to reporters, CM Dhami said the prime minister has a special attachment to the state, and it has seen unprecedented progress under the present dispensation at the Center.


"Prime Minister Modi is the world's tallest leader today. His coming to the 'land of gods' (devbhoomi) is a good sign. We had been waiting for this very moment," said Dhami whose state will go to the polls next year.

In the Lakhimpur Khri violence case,  the Uttarakhand Congress workers led by former chief minister Harish Rawat will go to violence-hit Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh from Ramnagar on Thursday.

The Uttarakhand Congress workers, packed in 1000 vehicles, will leave from Rampur for Lakhimpur Kheri, said Rawat, ANI reported.


The Punjab Congress workers led by Navjot Singh Sidhu will also march from Mohali to Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday in protest against the “brutal murder” of the farmers there.



Earlier in the day, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi met the families of the victims killed in the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.


Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in which eight people were killed during a farmers’ protest.
