The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Delhi government to pay Rs 900 crore as environmental compensation for improper management of solid municipal waste. A bench headed by chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel noted that around 80 per cent of legacy waste at the three landfill sites -- Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla -- was not remediated and the quantity of legacy waste at the three dumpsites was 300 lakh metric tonnes.

Ahead of Diwali, the Delhi government has raised the minimum wages of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers, with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia saying this will be a respite for them from inflation, as reported by news agency PTI.
The revised monthly wages will be applicable from October 1.
Wages of unskilled workers will be increased from Rs 16,506 to Rs 16,792, semi-skilled workers from Rs 18,187 to Rs 18,499 and skilled workers from Rs 20,019 to Rs 20,357, a statement issued by the Delhi government said.

President Murmu To Begin Three-Day Visit To Tripura, Assam Today
President Droupadi Murmu will visit Tripura and Assam from October 12 to 14, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said on Tuesday.
President Murmu will inaugurate the Tripura State Judicial Academy on October 12 and lay the foundation stone of the Tripura National Law University at Narsinghgarh in Agartala, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement.
On the same day, she will digitally inaugurate the MLA Hostel in the capital complex in Agartala.
The President will lay the foundation stone of various government projects related to Tripura's roads, schools, hostels for students and also lay the foundation stone of Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya Museum and Cultural Centre.
According to the statement, on October 13, the President will also flag off the special extension of the Guwahati-Kolkata-Guwahati train from Agartala railway station and the Agartala-Jiribam-Agartala Jan Shatabdi Express to Khongsang in Manipur.
JP Nadda To Launch BJP's 'Gaurav Yatra' In Gujarat
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take out "Gaurav Yatras" from five different places in the state to kickstart its campaign in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections, as reported by news agency PTI. BJP President JP Nadda will flag off two such visits on Wednesday.
The yatra will be flagged off from five different religious places in Gujarat and the 10-day-long yatra will pass through 144 seats out of 182 assembly seats in the state.
Nadda will launch the yatra on Wednesday from the temple town of Dwarka. Another route of the yatra will be from the temple town of Bahucharaji in the Mehsana district. Former deputy CM Nitin Patel will also remain present, the BJP said on Tuesday.
