PM Modi & UK PM Boris Johnson reviewed the progress in bilateral relations since their virtual summit earlier this year and expressed satisfaction at the steps already initiated under the Roadmap 2030 adopted during the virtual summit: Prime Minister's Office (PMO).


They also reviewed the progress of the Enhanced Trade Partnership and agreed on the potential of rapidly expanding trade and investment linkages between both countries.

Home Minister Amit Shah to visit Jammu-Kashmir, Goa, Andaman, Uttarakhand

New Delhi (PTI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Uttarakhand in the next fortnight, officials said on Monday.


Shah will first visit Goa on October 14 to inaugurate a forensic science laboratory and hold meetings with top functionaries of the state government.


The home minister will be in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from October 15 to 17 and during his tour, he will take stock of various development initiatives in the archipelago, an official from the ministry said.


He is expected to visit the Cellular jail and attend programmes related to the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' there.


Shah will go to Jammu and Kashmir for three days from October 23 to 25 as part of the central government's mega outreach programme in which 70 Union ministers are visiting the UT, the official said.


During his trip, Shah will visit remote areas of the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region, and take stock of various development initiatives.


The home minister will also attend a high-level law and order meeting with senior officials of the UT administration, the police, the paramilitary, and the Army, another official said.


A number of central ministers have already visited the UT while tours of several others are in the pipeline.


Shah will also visit Uttarakhand on October 30 during which he will hold meetings with top functionaries of the state government, the official said.

JP Nadda chairs BJP's organisational meeting to formulate strategy for UP Assembly polls

New Delhi (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda joined the party's organisational meeting being held on Monday in the national capital to formulate a strategy for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.


The meeting is being held at the party's 11, Ashok Road office in New Delhi. It is being attended by Uttar Pradesh in-charge of the party and former union minister Radha Mohan Singh, organization secretary BL Santosh, BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, Union Minister and party's election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and organisation secretary Sunil Bansal. The meeting started at 3 pm.


The meeting is being held to finalise the strategies and programmes to engage the organisation, its cadre and leaders to reach out to every voter. The party is set to launch 100 programmes in approximately 100 days left ahead of the crucial polls.


The details of the party's ambitious programme to connect with voters 100 days ahead of polling are set to be finalised at the strategic meeting. An elaborate plan to reach out to the voters with the welfare measures initiated by the BJP government is being prepared.


"Every morcha will be given a set number of days to complete its programmes and meetings Assembly wise. Each morcha has to touch every Assembly constituency," said a senior party leader. Sources stated there is a list of programmes including Panna Pramukh sammelans mandal wise, membership drive in six kshetras, kamal Diwali, 100 members to be included in every booth and rallies in 81 seats that BJP lost in the last Assembly polls.


Along with this, discussion on attempts by the Opposition to poaching various sections of Hindu votes by division and programmes for selected segments of the society too are going to be finalised, sources added. On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting where a decision to undertake these programmes was finalised. It is after this meeting senior party leaders have come to the national capital to brief the national leadership over the issue.


Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are scheduled to take place early next year. At present, there are 110 Assembly constituencies where Muslim voters make up around 30-39 per cent. On 44 seats, this percentage rises to 40-49 per cent while on 11 seats, the Muslim voters are around 50-65 per cent. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the BJP won a landslide victory winning 312 Assembly seats.


The party secured a 39.67 per cent vote share in the elections for 403-member Assembly. Samajwadi Party bagged 47 seats, BSP won 19 while Congress could manage to win only seven seats.

Breaking News LIVE: IMD Issues Orange Alert In Kerala Till Oct 12

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an orange alert for six districts in the state for October 12, 13 and 14, predicting heavy rains.

The weatherman, in a 4 PM bulletin, issued an Orange alert in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts for three days.

Meanwhile, a Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

Currently, all of the southern districts of the state have been put on Yellow alert.

"Heavy (7-11 cm in 24 hours) rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on 10 and 11 of October 2021. Heavy (7- 11 cm in 24 hours) to Very Heavy (12-20 cm in 24 hours) rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala from 12 to 14 of October 2021," the IMD website read.

A Red alert indicates heavy to extremely heavy rains of over 20 cm in 24 hours, while Orange alert means very heavy rains from 6 cm to 20 cm of rains. A yellow alert denotes heavy rainfall between 6 to 11 cm.

After opening over 100 points lower, the 30-share Sensex recovered the losses and gained 100.22 points or 0.17 per cent to trade higher at 60,159.28. Similarly, the Nifty rose 52.05 points or 0.29 per cent to 17,947.25.

On the other hand, TCS was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding over 6 per cent, after the company's Q2 earnings missed street expectations.

According to an Emkay Global note, TCS Q2 operating performance missed expectations, reporting lower-than-expected revenue and earnings before interest, taxes and corporate overhead or management (EBITM).

The company on Friday reported a 14.1 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 9,624 crore in the September 2021 quarter.

Transport is also likely to be hit in Maharashtra's second largest city as rickshaw unions have decided to not ply their vehicles during the duration of the shutdown on Monday.

"Our organisation and several other transport groups will be supporting the bandh," said Rickshaw Panchayat functionary Nitin Pawar.

However, commuting respite for the public is expected from the civic-run Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd, which has decided to run extra buses on Monday.

Breaking News Highlights, October 11, 2021: Hello and welcome to ABP News LIVE Breaking News Blog! Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Indian Space Association (ISpA). The virtual inauguration ceremony will be held at 11am, according to a tweet from PM Modi's official handle.


He will also interact with representatives of the space industry on the occasion.


In a release, the Prime Minister's Office said that ISpA is a premier industry association of space and satellite companies, which aspires to be the collective voice of the Indian space industry.


“It will undertake policy advocacy and engage with all stakeholders in the Indian space domain, including the government and its agencies,” it added.


The ISpA's founding members include Larson & Toubro, Nelco (Tata Group), OneWeb, Bharti Airtel, Mapmyindia, Walchandnagar Industries and Ananth Technology Limited. Other core members include Godrej, Hughes India, Azista-BST Aerospace Private Limited, BEL, Centum Electronics and Maxar India, the release added.
