No Go First Flights For Three Days Starting May 3

In a surprise move, Go First airlines, owned by Wadia-group, said on Tuesday that it was cancelling all its flights for three days -- May 3,4, 5 -- in view of a severe fund crunch. The sudden decision by the Mumbai-based low-cost airline, earlier known as Go Air, has left both passengers who had booked tickets as well as crew members in lurch.

"Due to operational reasons, GoFirst flights for May 3,4,5 2023 have been cancelled. We sincerely apologise to our loyal customers. We assure that we'll be back with more information soon," Go First said in a statement. The airline operates around 180-185 flights daily.

Go First, which has been flying for more than 17 years, has filed for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), saying it was facing a severe financial crunch.

The airline said that the customers who have booked the flights for the mentioned dates will be eligible for a full refund.

Kedarnath Yatra Put On Hold Due To Bad Weather

The pilgrimage to Kedarnath has been put on hold for a day till Wednesday as snowfall continued at the Himalayan temple on Tuesday and the Meteorological Department forecast similar weather for the area for a few days.

The MeT Department had forecast similar weather for the high-altitude temples in Uttarakhand till May 4 and advised the pilgrims, especially the ones bound for Kedarnath, to stay where they were and proceed on their onward journey only after the weather improved.

"Yatra to Kedarnath has been put on hold till tomorrow for the safety of pilgrims in view of the MeT Department alert of heavy rains and snow in parts of the state," Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said on Tuesday.

The pilgrims have been asked to wait in Gaurikund and Sonprayag till the weather improves and they can resume their journey.
