Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal To Meet Mamata Today Amid Services Row
Amid a bitter tussle with the Centre over the control of administrative services, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will meet his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday. The meeting comes at a time when Banerjee has been meeting Opposition leaders to form an alliance of non-BJP parties ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election
According to AAP sources, Kejriwal will meet former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on Wednesday and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar on May 25.
The Centre promulgated an ordinance on Friday to create a National Capital Civil Service Authority for transfer of IAS and DANICS cadre officers and disciplinary proceedings against them.
This came a week after the Supreme Court handed over the control of services, excluding those related to police, public order and land, to the elected government in Delhi.
Navy To Receive INSV Tarini After Her 17,000-NM Voyage
Indian naval sailing vessel Tarini is on her return journey to India after a seven-month-long transoceanic intercontinental expedition, covering 17,000 nautical miles, officials said on Saturday.
The Indian Navy is all set to receive the six-member crew of INSV Tarini, including women officers Lt Cdr Dilna K and Lt Cdr Roopa A, at the "flag in" ceremony on May 23 at the Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre (INWTC), INS Mandovi, Goa, they said.
During the expedition, Tarini sailed to Rio de Janerio in Brazil via Cape Town in South Africa, participating in the Cape to Rio Race 2023. She will complete an arduous 17,000-nautical miles passage when she returns to Indian shores.
