Indian Meteorological Department Himachal Pradesh chief Surender Paul says an orange alert has been issued in the state and heavy rainfall warnings in some areas for the next 2-3 days. In last 24 hours, it rained all over the state, with Kangra receiving maximum rainfall. There have been reports of hailstorms in Shimla & Jubbal. Rain will continue for next 48 hours, there has been a significant drop in temperature.

Karnataka: Amit Shah To Assess BJP Poll Preparations, Hold Roadshow In Bengaluru


Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah arrived here on Friday for a two-day visit to assess the party's preparations for the Karnataka Assembly elections on May 10, his first visit to the state since the poll schedule was announced.


On Friday afternoon, he is scheduled to hold a roadshow in Devanahalli town, the birthplace of 18th-century Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan, in Bengaluru Rural district. Shah will meet with senior party officials here in the evening to discuss election preparations.


He is scheduled to attend an event hosted by a private news channel on Saturday before flying back to Delhi.


Amid Signs Of Growing Schism Within Manipur BJP, Party To Hold Meeting Today: 


The state's ruling party will hold a meeting on Friday to discuss the development, amid signs of a growing schism within the BJP's Manipur unit, where three MLAs have resigned from administrative posts in the last two weeks, news agency PTI reported citing sources. 


Paonam Brojen, a BJP MLA, became the third legislator to resign on Thursday. He resigned as chairman of the Manipur Development Society on "personal grounds." The meeting was announced shortly after this resignation was made public.


"A meeting has been set for 11 am on Friday." Top state BJP leaders, including legislators, are expected to attend the meeting, according to PTI.


Four BJP MLAs from the northeastern state are reportedly camping out in Delhi to meet with the party's central leadership and air their grievances. Three of them have resigned from their administrative positions. The fourth legislator has filed a complaint with the Manipur police against the BJP state Minority Morcha president for "threatening" him on Facebook.


Maharashtra: State Board Schools To Remain Closed From Friday Due To Heatwave


Due to the heat wave, all Maharashtra state board schools will remain closed beginning Friday, according to the government.


Other boards' schools can decide whether to close after considering their curriculum and activities, according to an order issued by the School Education Department on Thursday.


Except for Vidarbha, the state's schools will reopen on June 15. Those in Vidarbha will resume on June 30, according to the order.


On April 16, at least 14 people died from heat stroke after attending the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Navi Mumbai.
