Breaking News LIVE: Vasundhra Raje's Car Hit By Another Vehicle, Ex-CM Not Hurt, Says Police

The car of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje met with a minor accident on Wednesday evening in the Vidyadhar Nagar area of Jaipur.


Raje was sitting in her vehicle when the accident took place, the police said.


No one, however, was injured in the incident, they said.


Raje was not hurt and is safe, the SHO of Vidhyadhar Nagar police station Virendra Kumar said.


He said Raje's car was hit by another vehicle at a turn due to which a door of her car got damaged.


He said it was hit by a car being driven by another woman.


The girl apologized to Raje who asked her to drive properly. No complaint was lodged by either side, so no case was registered, the SHO added. (PTI)

Three Maoists of the banned outfit Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee' (TSPC) have been arrested during a search operation in a jungle in Jharkhand's Palamu district, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

The Naxalites were arrested near the Turkun village, where the encounter took place between them and the police last Sunday, the police officer said.

The search operation was carried out jointly by the district armed police and the CRPF.

Thirty-two weapons, seven live cartridges, an SLR were recovered from the spot after the encounter, Superintendent of Police (SP) of the district, Chandan Kumar Sinha, told newsmen.

A Naxal was killed in an encounter with the police on Tuesday. According to Chhattisgarh Police, the encounter took place between the DRG team and Naxals in the forest near Tumkapal village under Katekalyan police station around 4 pm on Tuesday.

Breaking News LIVE: CBI To Grill Anil Deshmukh In Money Laundering Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has got the permission from a Special Court to record the statement of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in connection with the Rs 100 crore extortion case involving former top Mumbai cop Param Bir Singh.

The CBI had recently moved a plea before the special court requesting it to grant them permission to record Deshmukh's statements.

The CBI will have to visit Arthur Road Jail to record his statement. Deshmukh is currently lodged there.

According to the information, the federal probe agency will record his statement for three consecutive days -- March 3, 4 and 5.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a webinar on the theme of 'technology-enabled development' on Wednesday to chart out action points for implementation of the provisions made for the sector in the Union Budget. The prime minister's address will be followed by four breakaway sessions led by the Departments of telecommunications; scientific and industrial research; science and technology; and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.


With two phases left of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a rally in Sonbhadra and Gazipur today. 


The ruling Biju Janta Dal (BJD) swept the three-tier panchayat elections by winning 766 out of 852 seats announced by the State Election Commission on Tuesday. Following the announcement of results, Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik said, "This unwavering love has further strengthened our commitment to public service. My congratulations to the winning party candidates and all the workers who turned the BJD into a movement through dedicated work."


As per the State Election Commission, out of 852, BJD won 766 seats, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) got 42 Zilla Parishad seats while the Congress managed to win 37 seats. Further, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won three seats, CPI-M got one set and independent candidates won three seats.


Parts of northwest India, including the national capital, are expected to experience normal-to-above normal minimum temperatures, while the maximum temperatures are likely to be below normal between March and May, a spring forecast by the India Meteorological Department released on Tuesday said.


Releasing its seasonal forecast for the period till May, the Met department said large parts of north, northwest and central India are likely to record above normal temperatures in this period. However, maximum temperature in the Indo-Gangetic Plains, including Delhi, east and northeast India along with most parts of southern India are expected to record below normal maximum temperatures.


Parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh are likely to record normal to above normal maximum temperatures in this period, the IMD forecast said.
