Odisha CM Likely To Be Chosen In BJP Parliamentary Party Meet On Friday
The chief minister of Odisha's first BJP-led government is likely to be chosen during the Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi on Friday, according to saffron camp leaders.
The BJP defeated the BJD, which had ruled the state for 24 consecutive years, by winning 78 out of 147 seats in the Odisha Assembly.
Although three of these 78 MLAs were former state ministers, a senior BJP leader mentioned on Thursday that the chief minister might not necessarily be selected from the newly elected assembly members.
Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who won from the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, is a leading candidate for the chief minister position.
Additionally, senior MLAs Suresh Pujari, Jayanarayan Mishra, and K V Singh Deo are also being considered for the role.
"The Parliamentary Party, the BJP's highest decision-making body, will convene in New Delhi tomorrow," said Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, as reported by PTI.

Newly elected MPs of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance are scheduled to meet on Friday to elect Narendra Modi as their leader, setting the stage for his third term as prime minister. The swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to take place on Sunday.
Following Modi's election as the leader of NDA MPs, senior alliance members such as TDP's N Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)'s Nitish Kumar will accompany him to meet President Droupadi Murmu and present the list of parliamentarians supporting him, according to some alliance members.
He is likely to be sworn in over the weekend, probably on Sunday. The NDA has 293 MPs, well above the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
According to PTI, senior BJP leaders, including Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, engaged in discussions throughout Thursday as the party initiated efforts to form the government, amid a call from a senior Janata Dal (United) leader for respectable representation in the Union Council of Ministers.
