Five Congress workers arrested in a rioting case were remanded in judicial custody in Ahmedabad in Gujarat hours before party leader Rahul Gandhi arrived here on a daylong visit.

Incidentally, Gandhi was supposed to meet them at Vasna police station here, where they were lodged, but police produced them in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate BG Rathod in the morning at the end of their police remand.

The five have been shifted to Sabarmati central jail, Vasna police station inspector Rahul Patel said.

AP, Telangana Chief Ministers To Meet On July 6 To Resolve Pending Inter-State Issues 


Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu are scheduled to meet on Saturday to address unresolved issues stemming from the bifurcation of the two Telugu states. The meeting will be held at Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule Bhavan on Saturday evening. 


As per the report of PTI, upon arrival of Naidu at Begumpet airport on Friday evening, after his trip to Delhi, TDP leaders, and activists in Telangana gave him a grand welcome. 


Telangana was formed on June 2, 2014, after the division of undivided Andhra Pradesh. Even a decade later, disputes remain unresolved between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including the bifurcation of assets, state-run institutions, outstanding power bill dues, and the transfer of remaining employees to their respective native states.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha is planning his visit to Gujarat after a recent clash between BJP and Congress workers outside the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) office. This dispute arose over alleged anti-Hindu remarks made by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Both parties filed complaints against each other, resulting in FIRs and the arrest of five Congress workers.


Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil said on Friday that during the visit, Gandhi will also meet the family members of those five Congress workers who are currently in police custody.
