Close on the heels of his recommendation for a CBI probe into the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has directed the chief secretary to submit a report on the role of officers and civil servants in the alleged illegal formulation, amendments and implementation of the policy, official sources told news agency PTI said on Saturday.


The LG has also said appropriate action in accordance with law will be taken against such officers under whose watch the violations and lapses took place once the report is submitted and examined, the sources said.

BSF fires at Pak drone detected along IB in Jammu, search launched

BSF opened fire at a Pakistani drone after spotting it near the International Border (IB) in the Kanachak sector of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior official said on Saturday.


A blinking red light was observed by the troops coming from the Pakistan side in the Kanachak area at 9.40 pm on Friday, he said. Alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops fired at it, he said.


The troops launched a search operation in the area, which is still going on, he said.


Earlier, police had busted three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) modules arresting seven of its members and recovering a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive material reportedly dropped by 20 drone sorties from Pakistan.


Reportedly, LeT had set up three terror modules in Jammu and Rajouri districts to collect and transport weapons dropped by drone in border areas of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Rajouri districts to terrorists in Kashmir. (PTI)

Union Minister Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the e-FIR system in Gandhinagar on Saturday that will enable the citizens to file an FIR online, without visiting the police stations. Important services of Gujarat Police will be made available online, ANI reported.


Within 48 hours of registering the FIR, the police will contact the complainant directly and visit the scene of vehicle theft/mobile phone theft and complete the investigation within 21 days and send a report to the court. The complainant will also be informed about the registration of this online complaint and the progress made in the investigation through Email/SMS, ANI reported.


Meanwhile, the third case of monkeypox was reported in India as well as Kerala on Friday. The Union Health Ministry is expected to issue further guidelines on how to manage the virus.


A 35-year old man, who came to Kerala from the UAE earlier this month, tested positive for monkeypox on Friday. Health Minister Veena George said the Malappuram native arrived in the southern state on July 6 and had fever since July 13, PTI reported.


Coming to weather related news, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for parts of Rajasthan, indicating heavy rainfall during the next three to four days. According to the MeT department, monsoon will remain active in many parts of the state on Friday, Saturday and Sunday amid the activity of two new western disturbances.
