Himachal Assembly Session From Jan 4
Even as Congress lobbying intensifies on the issue of portfolio distributions under Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is getting ready to corner the Himachal Pradesh government on the issue of department closures during the upcoming Assembly session.
After being postponed last month, the Assembly session is now scheduled to take place in Dharamshala from January 4 to January 6.
The Assembly session of the Himachal Sukhu government, which was just elected, was originally scheduled for December of last year. Nonetheless, CM Sukhu contracted Coronavirus, prompting a postponement in both convening of the government’s first Assembly session, as well as much-awaited Cabinet expansion and distribution of portfolios. The Congress, which won the election on December 8, has also blamed the delay in holding the Assembly session on state Governor Rajendra Arlekar being away on official tours.
On Monday, Congress Himachal Pradesh state in-charge Rajeev Shukla stated that the state government's cabinet expansion would occur following the upcoming assembly session. Yesterday, Shukla met with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and K C Venugopal, the organisation's general secretary for the Congress.
