Lok Sabha Speaker To Inaugurate Presiding Officers' Conference Today:
The 84th All India Presiding Officers' Conference (AIPOC) will be inaugurated on January 27 in Mumbai by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, according to a statement issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
During the two-day conference, attendees will discuss how to increase people's trust in democratic institutions as well as the importance of maintaining discipline and decorum in Parliament, state legislatures, and union territories. It will also discuss how to make the committee system more purposeful and efficient.
The Lok Sabha speaker will address the valedictory session on Sunday.
The event will be attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Neelam Gorhe, Presiding Officers of Legislatures of States and Union Territories, Maharashtra Ministers, Maharashtra Legislative Council Members and other dignitaries.
The 60th Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India will take place on January 27 before the Presiding Officers' Conference.

Schools, Colleges In Odisha To Remain Shut Today:
Schools and colleges across Odisha will be closed on Saturday to commemorate the launch of a temple redevelopment project in Sambalpur, officials said. The decision was made to make it easier for people to attend the inauguration of the Samaleswari Temple Area Management and Local Economy Initiatives (SAMALEI) project, they explained.
All government offices will be closed on that day because it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to launch the Rs 200-crore project, which will cover approximately 40 acres.
The initiative will include temple beautification and peripheral development, a heritage corridor, and modern amenities, PTI reported citing officials.
