Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday congratulated the Padma awardees from the state, saying it was a matter of pride, an official release said here.
Indian classical vocalist Prabha Atre was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, while Tata group head Natarajan Chandrasekaran and Cyrus Poonawalla of the Serum Institute of India are Padma Bhushan awardees.

The national capital shivered on Tuesday under harsh winter conditions as the minimum temperature dropped to 6.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.

The Election Commission of India has decided to send illustrated Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to newly enrolled voters via post, a senior official said on Tuesday.
The service will be launched on January 25 which is celebrated as National Voters' Day, the official said.
"We will start sending the voter cards directly to the recipients by post. The service will be officially launched on National Voters' Day," he said.
Talking more about it, the official said that the Commission will also send a kit along with the identity cards of the new voters.
The packet will contain all the information including EVM, voting method, he said.
"The National Voters' Day will be observed across the country on Tuesday as an initiative of the Election Commission to raise the awareness of the voters. The theme of this year's Voters' Day is 'Empowering, Vigilant, Protecting and Informing Our Voters'," he said.
President Ram Nath Kovind will address the nation on Tuesday on the eve of the 73rd Republic Day, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique issued on Monday night said.
The address will be broadcast from 7 pm on the entire national network of All India Radio (AIR) and telecast over all channels of Doordarshan in Hindi followed by the English version, it said.
Broadcast of the address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan, the communique said.
AIR will broadcast regional language versions from 9.30 pm onwards on its respective regional networks, it added.
In a notification issued on Monday, the Delhi government announced that as part of its new liquor policy, the number of 'dry days' in national capital has been reduced from 21 to three starting this year.
As per the notification, Delhi will observe three dry days from now on -- Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15) and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).
However, the order added that apart from three days mentioned, the government may declare any other day in the year as dry day from time to time.
"In pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that the following dates shall be observed as 'Dry Day' in the National Capital Territory of Delhi by all the licensees of the Excise department and opium vends located in Delhi for the year 2022 -- Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti. Apart from the above three dry days, the government may declare any other day in the year as Dry Day from time to time," read the order issued by Deputy Commissioner (Excise), Anand Kumar Tiwari.

The "Assam Baibhav Award" carries a citation, a medal and a cash amount of Rs 5 lakh while "Assam Saurav" and "Assam Gaurav" carries a citation, a medal, cash amount of Rs 4 and Rs 3 lakh, respectively.
To mark the occasion, National Awards for the Best Electoral Practices for the year 2021-22 will be conferred on state and district level officers for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in different spheres such as IT initiatives, security management, election management, accessible elections and contribution in the field of voter awareness and outreach.
On the occasion, the National Awards will also be given to important stakeholders like government departments, EC icons and media groups for their contribution towards voters' awareness.
During the function, the newly enrolled voters would also be felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC). The Commission has recently launched a new initiative to deliver the EPIC to newly enrolled voters, along with a personalised letter and a Voter Guidebook.
An EC publication 'Leap of Faith: Journey of Indian Elections' will also be released. The book narrates India's electoral history and the growth of representative and electoral principles in India as it evolved from the nineteenth to twenty first century while another publication 'Pledging to Vote - A decadal Journey of The National Voters Day in India' will also be launched.
The book presents the journey of National Voters' Day celebrations by the EC from Diamond Jubilee celebration onwards. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the publication, especially, its pictorials are sure to inspire the personnel who serve as 'Frontline Warriors of Electoral Democracy'.

Nominations of 22 candidates from five assembly constituencies in Mathura were cancelled on Monday during scrutiny of the papers, election officials said.
The details provided in the nomination papers of 58 candidates from these assembly seats were found correct, District Returning Officer Navneet Singh Chahal said.
Giving a break-up, the official said details in the nomination papers of 15 candidates from Mathura, 13 from Chhatta, seven candidates from Baldeo, 10 candidates from Mant, and 13 candidates from Goverdhan have been found correct.
The exact figure of contestants from each assembly constituency would be known on January 27, the last date for withdrawal of the candidature, officials stated.
While nomination papers of 12 candidates were cancelled from the Mathura assembly constituency, two from Chhatta, three from Baldeo, and five from the Mant assembly constituency were also rejected, they said.
