A few private schools here received a bomb threat through email on Thursday, news agency PTI reported, citing police. The police have appealed to the public not to panic. The incident, however, coerced parents to rush to school to pick up their children.
Claiming that efforts were on to trace the culprit responsible for issuing the email threat to at least four schools in the city, police said Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) had been sent to the schools to check for sabotage.

At least 15 tourists from West Bengal sustained injuries when the bus in which they were travelling met with an accident on NH-60 in Odisha's Balasore district on Thursday, news agency PTI reported, citing police. PM Modi To Address Event Marking 150th Anniversary Of Srila Prabhupada Today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver an address at the Bharat Mandapam commemorating the 150th anniversary of spiritual guru Srila Prabhupada.
He will also issue a commemorative stamp and coin in honour of the great spiritual guru.
On February 8, 2024, at around 12:30 p.m., Prime Minister Modi will address the programme commemorating Srila Prabhupada's 150th anniversary at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office.
Acharaya Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the Gaudiya Mission, was instrumental in preserving and spreading the fundamental tenets of the Vaishnava faith.
LDF To Protest Against Centre's Alleged Neglect Towards Kerala:
The ruling Left Front in Kerala, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, will protest in the national capital on Thursday against the Centre's alleged neglect of the southern state in financial matters.
While the opposition rejected the LDF's invitation to the Congress-led UDF to join the protest, it received support from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin.
Left front ministers, legislators, and parliamentarians from Kerala will actively participate in the protest, which begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Vijayan stated on Wednesday that the LDF was forced to engage in such an unprecedented struggle in order to ensure Kerala's survival and advancement.
"This agitation is intended to safeguard the constitutional rights of all states, not merely Kerala’s. The aim of this struggle is not to triumph over anyone, but to secure what we rightfully deserve instead of surrendering," the Kerala CM said in Delhi according to a statement issued by his office.
Telangana Assembly Budget Session To Begin Today:
During the Telangana Legislative Assembly's budget session, which begins on Thursday, heated debates on irrigation issues will likely take place, as will the implementation of two more poll 'guarantees' of the ruling Congress.
The session will begin with Governor Tamilisai Soundararjan's customary address to the joint sitting of the legislature, official sources said today.
The first budget session since the Congress took power in the state is expected to focus on irrigation, particularly the issue of 'handing over' control of Krishna River projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB).
