PM Modi To Inaugurate India's Largest Helicopter Production Facility In Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a new state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Tumakuru, Karnataka, that will initially manufacture light utility helicopters (LUHs), reported news agency PTI.

The 615-acre factory was billed by the defense ministry as India's largest facility for manufacturing helicopters. It was designed as a one-stop shop for the country's helicopter needs.

According to officials, the HAL intends to produce over 1,000 helicopters weighing between three and fifteen tonnes, with a 20-year total business of more than Rs 4 lakh crore.

Additional helicopters, such as Indian multirole helicopters (IMRHs) and light combat helicopters (LCHs), will be manufactured at the expanded facility. According to the officials, it will also be used to maintain, repair, and overhaul civil advanced light helicopters (ALHs), IMRHs, and LCHs in the future.
