PM Modi To Hold Two Rallies In Poll Bound-Meghalaya


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a roadshow in this area and give a speech at an election rally on Friday in Tura, western Meghalaya, to support BJP candidates for the state assembly elections on February 27, a senior party leader.


Ernest Mawrie, president of the BJP in Meghalaya, stated that the prime minister will address the public at 11 a.m. following the presentation of floral tributes to the state's three freedom fighters, U Tirot Sing, U Kiang Nangbah, and Pa Togan Sangma.


The Prime Minister will fly to Tura in the West Garo Hills district in the afternoon after the roadshow, where he will address a rally at the Alotgre stadium, which is funded by the BCCI.


The Sports Department had denied permission due to safety concerns for the Prime Minister, who was scheduled to address a rally at the PA Sangma Sports Complex, which was funded by the Centre at a cost of more than 120 crore rupees.


Mehrauli Murder: Aaftab Poonawala To Be Produced Before Sessions Court 


The Mehrauli murder case was transferred to a higher court on Tuesday by a magisterial court for the start of the trial.


On February 24, the accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala will be brought before the principal district and sessions judge of Saket. He is accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar by strangling her and cutting up her body.


The chargesheet was filed under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing the disappearance of evidence of an offense or providing false information to a screen offender) of the Indian Penal Code, according to Metropolitan Magistrate Aviral Shukla.


"Scrutiny of documents is complete... Section 302 of the IPC is exclusively triable by a sessions court. Accordingly, the accused be produced before the principal district and sessions judge on February 24 at 2 pm," the magistrate said.


"The case is now committed to the sessions court," he added.
