Excise policy cases: SC To Deliver Verdict On Friday On Bail Pleas Of AAP Leader Manish Sisodia
The Supreme Court is set to announce its decision on Friday regarding AAP leader Manish Sisodia's bail requests in connection with the corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, according to news agency PTI.
According to the cause list on the Supreme Court’s website, Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan, who reserved their judgment on Sisodia's pleas on August 6, will deliver the verdict tomorrow.
Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, for his alleged role in the irregularities surrounding the now-abandoned Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) subsequently arrested him in a money laundering case linked to the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023. He resigned from his position in the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 2023.
Sisodia has sought bail contending that he has been in custody for 17 months and the trial against him has not yet started. The ED and the CBI have resisted his bail pleas.
